Here is what we pack into these remarkable tea bags
Yerba Mate: A cultural phenomenon throughout South America. It contains compounds that keeps its users healthy and energetic. Swiss researchers have reported that Yerba maté may be beneficial as a weight loss supplement (Phytomedicine, 1999). A valuable source of vitamins, minerals and amino acids such as Vitamins A, C, E, B-1, B-2, riboflavin, pantothenic acid, magnesium, calcium, choline, iron, xanthine, and folic acid make Yerba maté more healthful than Green Tea.
Cha' de Bugre Extract: Chá de bugre products are highly commercialized as a weight loss aid in Brazil where tea bags, fluid extracts and tinctures of chá de bugre are commonly seen in pharmacies, stores, and even in the beach-front eateries and refreshment stands along Rio de Janeiro's beaches. It has long been a popular weight loss product, which has been marketed as a diuretic, appetite suppressant, and believed to help prevent or reduce fatty deposits and cellulite. Dr. C.L. Cruz in his book, Dictionary of the Plants Used in Brazil, recommends chá de bugre as an excellent diuretic and weight loss aid as well as a good general heart tonic that can help stimulate circulation. It is also used in Brazil and Haiti as a tea to help relieve coughs, regulate renal function, reduce uric acid and externally to heal wounds
The Healing Power of Rainforest Herbs by Leslie Taylor, page 229 … Whether it is called cha de bugre or porangaba, it will probably long be sold as a natural weight-loss aid in Rio and throughout Brazil. It is a great appetite suppressant—but rather than cutting off appetite all together (then causing intense hunger when it wears off at the wrong time) it gives one a sense of being full and satisfied after eating only a few bites of food. This seems to promote much smaller meals, more often, which is what many practitioners believe is better for sustained weight loss and keeping the metabolism going throughout the day.
Guarana: Guaraná contains a substance similar to caffeine called guaranine. Guaranine stimulates the central nervous system, increases metabolism, and has a mild diuretic effect. It has been suggested that in combination with other herbs, guarana (guaranine) may be effective in helping to promote weight loss. This effect is probably due to an appetite suppressing mechanism, an increase in calorie burning, or both.
Akarkara extract: Also known as "Toothache Plant" or "Paracress", Spilanthes acmella is a flowering herb in the Asteraceace amily. Its leaves and flower heads contain an Analgesic agent that may be used to numb toothaches. It is native to the tropics of Brazil. The addition of this extract to our formula has a remarkable effect on appetite.
Tribulus Extract: Traditionally used as a dietary supplement to enhance vigor, vitality and stamina without caffeine. Anise: A sweet herb used by ancient Greeks who touted the benefits of Anise and its ability to contribute to the relief and cure of many common ailments. Ancient Romans also used it as part of their meals and it was prepared for medicinal processing to treat digestion, colic, and nausea. Some even used it as an aphrodisiac.
Marine Algae: Marine algae has been shown to be useful in weight-loss programs and for lowering cholesterol and fat in the blood. It contains soothing, mucilaginous gels such as algin, carregeenan, and agar, which specifically rejuvenate the lungs and gastrointestinal tract. It binds with heavy metal, pesticides, and carcinogens, and carries these toxins safely out of the body. Other compounds in marine algae are related to those found in friendly bacteria which fortify and strengthen our immune systems to fight against invading organisms and toxins.
Horsetail: Very popular in South America as a diuretic. The Ancient Greeks used horsetail in the treatment of wounds and the Romans used fresh sprouts as potherb, and a medicine. Research conducted in Russia has shown horsetail to be effective in removing lead accumulation in the body. Used to promote coagulation. It promotes calcium absorption in the body and, by improving lipid metabolism, helps to remove fatty deposits in arteries. It is supportive of the cardiovascular system.
Fennel: Digestive aid/Diuretic/Expectorant Fennel is primarily used to treat bloating and discomfort in the digestive system.
Malva: Malva Leaf is a demulcent, and its particular excellence involves soothing irritated tissue and relieving various forms of inflammation. It contains polysaccharides that form a protective layer on the stomach lining, it is said to lower stomach acids and is useful in relieving gastrointestinal disorders. Malva Leaf is said to have diuretic properties that increase the flow of urine. It has been used to soothe the urinary tract and relieve cystitis and bladder infection.
Sarandí blanco: Very popular diuretic used in Uruguay, Brazil, and Argentina
Roasted Carob, Almonds, Sweet Stevia and Roasted Cocoa Beans: For a delightful flavor.
